Full Grain Leather
Our “full grain” offering consists of a range of Semi-Aniline and corrected grain finishes.
Our Semi-Aniline Carson range has only a thin finishing layer applied to their surface. Scars, marks and other imperfections which occur naturally are often visible in this type of leather. These Semi Aniline leathers offer a good compromise between the softness and feel of full aniline leather and the protective benefits of corrected grain leather.
Our Corrected Grain Contempo leather has been buffed during manufacture, to partially correct its surface of any blemishes and imperfections. Once these are reduced, a surface pigment is then applied to the leather. It is then embossed with an artificial grain print to achieve a uniform colour and look. One advantage of corrected grain leathers is the huge array of colours available; From black to white and every colour in-between! (Please ask the sales team if you would like to see further colours) A hardwearing leather corrected grain leather is more than capable of withstanding anything family life can throw at it.
Antique Leather (Rob-Off)
A type of corrected grain leather where the surface is covered by a darker topcoat, which hand rubbed to reveal a lighter contrasting base colour. This is then sealed with a clear lacquer to ensure your furniture keeps its carefully executed finish. As with all natural leathers Rub Off leathers will experience some colour variation over time and through exposure to strong sunlight. This type of leather is normally used for traditional furniture such as our Chesterfields.
Vintage Aniline Leather
Semi-Aniline leathers that have been dyed through, and have only a thin finishing layer applied to their surface. Scars, marks and other imperfections which occur naturally are often visible in this type of leather. Semi aniline leathers offer a good compromise between the softness and feel of full aniline leather and the protective benefits of finished surface leather. By dyeing the leather through before the final top coating is applied, an even colour is achieved with only a thin layer of finish coating. The leather therefore feels much softer and more tactile than corrected varieties. A hugely popular choice.
Premium Aniline Leather
These types of leather are designed to look "distressed" and will continue to look more distressed over time. Scars, marks and other imperfections which occur naturally are often visible in this type of leather. Our Heritage leather range is a great example of pull up leather with an “old saddle” look to the leather. You can expect to find variations and light shades coming through where the leather is pulled during upholstery. Often variation is particularly evident around the arms and buttoning details on our chesterfield suites. This type of leather can be scratched easily but scratches can often be smoothed away by moving the oils and waxes around using the heat from the palm of your hand. Nourishing kits are also available to help move stubborn scratches. For the ultimate premium finish try our Jiotto hand finished leather.
